Biography

Marie Bordelon recently earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and critical Native American and Indigenous studies from Brown University. She currently mentors and tutors youth at the Rhode Island Indian Council and served as the communications chair for Circle of Women, a nonprofit aimed at increasing educational access for young girls in Indigenous communities. Marie hopes to focus on the critical challenges faced by Indigenous communities in the U.S. and Mexico, with a particular focus on education and public health policy. Fluent in Spanish and proficient in Isthmus Zapotec, she is from the Central Valley region of Oaxaca.
