Bilena Dabalen

Biography

Bilena Dabalen recently earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and history from Brown University. During her time as a research assistant, she focused on inequities in education and the history of the for-profit sector in American K-12 education, collecting information on standardized testing and the textbook industry. Bilena is interested in social and urban policy and hopes to work on issues surrounding poverty, incarceration, and housing. She is currently learning Spanish and is proficient in the programming language Stata. She is from Washington, DC.

The Policy in Action Project — a hands-on work and learning venture — is the capstone to every MPA student’s education at Brown. The MPA Program curates high-profile partnerships with governmental and non-governmental agencies across the country and around the world. The suite of projects also includes several in the Providence and Rhode Island area, allowing MPA students to see the tangible impact of their efforts.
