The Cost of War project's latest report provides a synthesis of independent data that suggests that the prevalence of sexual assault in the U.S. military is two to four times higher than DoD estimates. Sexual assault remained high during the “War on Terror,” despite the military’s efforts to promote gender equality and address sexual assault over the last decade, because of the military’s focus on combat readiness.
