The Henrietta Fore award honors individuals or groups who have made exemplary contributions to the field of international development, either as U.S. government officials or in support of global development. Senior Fellow J. Brian Atwood was selected for his decades of service advancing diplomacy and development worldwide. Established in 2023, the Henrietta Fore Award is among the Academy’s highest honors and highlights the essential role of development in international relations. Named for Henrietta Fore, the first woman Administrator of USAID and former Executive Director of UNICEF, the award is presented annually at the Academy’s Awards Luncheon at the U.S. Department of State.
