Biography

Yan Xu studies comparative and international political economy, with focuses on technology, state-business relations, and China. His book project examines the rise of a vibrant tech startup sector in China — now the world's second largest — and its impact on the country’s advance in high-tech. He has also conducted research on the relations between the state and top business tycoons in China, and U.S. dominance of the global semiconductor industry. He completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Chicago.
