Lieutenant Colonel Tingle was a visiting scholar and national defense fellow at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. He has previously served as a weapons and tactics instructor, operations officer, aviation maintenance officer and detachment officer in charge, with four operational fleet squadrons and five overseas deployments. He received his B.A. in sociology with an emphasis in organizational studies from the University of California at Davis and an MBA from the University of Arizona Global Campus. A Marine Corps active-duty CH-53E helicopter pilot, he has participated in combat operations in Afghanistan and served in joint and multinational military engagements in Japan, South Korea, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti and the Philippines. He is the recipient Strike Medal numeral 9 for aviation leadership actions in combat and the Meritorious Service Medal for leadership of 75 Marines and four CH-53E helicopters aboard the USS Portland during the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit Deployment.
