Carter Paterson recently earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University with a double concentration in sociology and science, technology, and society. During his internship with Inspiring Minds’ Resilient Kids program, he conducted an in-depth analysis of the program’s structure and efficacy in relation to mindfulness education and child development, which served as the foundation for his sociology honors thesis. His interest in developmental science also led him to work as a research assistant in Brown’s Mind and Morality Lab, where he engaged with concepts in moral development and behavioral science. Carter has also studied deaf culture and developed a foundational understanding of American Sign Language. He hopes to interweave his interests in developmental psychology, behavioral studies, and policy to better understand the social determinants of health shaping these fields and to become a changemaker. At Brown, Carter was deeply involved in the performing arts, including musical theater, Brown University Choir, and two a cappella groups. He is from Harlem, New York.
